Mel’s Chicken
This dish turned out to be a favorite for my entire household. My wife and sister in law both love it, and I like to make it as a healthy leftover for dinners for the kids. Ingredients 2 packs of thinly sliced chicken brests. 3/4 box of corn flakes About a quart of buttermilk. 2-3 tbsp of brown sugar. 2 to 3 tsp kosher salt 1-2 tsp peprika 1-2 tsp pepper A cup of dry oatmeal, steel cut or minute ready, doesn’t matter. Leonardo da Vinci’s Resume
I straight up swiped this entire page from http://www.adifferentplace.org/newpage5.htm and dropped it into my website. It’s fantastic. If I were a king, I’d hire him in a second. Talk about knowing your audience… In 1481, Leonardo wrote a fascinating letter to Ludovico Sforza, later to become Duke of Milan. This letter, aimed at obtaining work at Sforza’s court. He notes, almost as a postscript, that he is also a painter and... [Read More...]
Crashed OSX due to too many fonts
It’s simple really, i installed 14,000 fonts using fontbook last night. So, each time the computer tried to launch an app (like word or excel), it tried to lead them each into memory, which meant those programs just never launched. Oh, and when I tried to reboot, forget it. To log in, I waited more than 30 minutes after the hard reset, never saw my desktop. The solution is simple. 1. Reboot the mac while holding the SHIFT key — this brings... [Read More...]
Lesson Learned : SVN and WordPress sucks
After trying for weeks to come up with a good system of passing data back and forth between a wordpress document root and the svn server, I finally scrapped it and just wrote something similar to what cpanel uses. The main problem with it is simple. WordPress is super cool, allows you update plugins and themes and such. Problem is when you do that update through the web gui, it also wipes that .svn directory in the wp-content/plugins/plugin_name directory.... [Read More...]
Writing your own wordpress plugin.
Ok, so I have this massive reel engine project called dakotaspots and a lot of people use it to feed their website. Problem is, I really do think that websites are a thing of the past, like literally I just told several clients they need to chuck their sites and replace it with wordpress. So, I thought I better get cracking on a dakotaspots wordpress plugin. As it turns out, it’s really a snap. Basically you just pull in this variable called... [Read More...]
Cooking Monkfish
I just tried the monkfish recipe from my roasting cook book tonight. It was a very interesting couple of days.. Firstly, like usual, I photocopied my ‘menu’ and asked Carol to get all the stuff. Well, Mel did the shopping for us this week, not Carol. Carol’s used to me saying ‘if you can’t find something, find something close.’ Mel’s not. Mel gets to the supermarket and says ‘do you have monkfish?’... [Read More...]
